Sailing Courses in Nanaimo

A friend of mine from Ultimate is teaching some sailing courses this summer. Here are the details:

Calling all Intrepid Adventurers!

1) Intro to Sailing and Recreational Racing – YPro Intro-2

Are you looking for an opportunity to get in on the dinghy sailing action at NYC? This course is sure to get your brain cells firing, your body moving, and produce belly laughs! It will follow the guidelines of the Canadian Yachting Association’s Whitesail Program.

Course components include: Learning the Language, Knots to Know, Basic Sail Theory, Water Safety, The Balance, Steering & Propulsion System, and of course Sailing for Speed!

Full payment required prior to start of 1st class (payable to Jill Christie)

Deposit and cancellation policy distributed upon registration.

2) Sailing and Recreational Racing – YProR – more advanced sailing techniques and racing strategies. Pre-req. YPro Intro or CYA Whitesail 3
Have you got the “need for speed”? Are you a bit of an adrenaline junkie? Would you enjoy the frenzy of a start line, the close competition at mark roundings, spinnaker battles and hanging off the trapeze while surfing along on wild reaches? This course will follow the guidelines of the Canadian Yachting Association’s Learn to Race Program. Course components include: Stellar Starts, Mark Roundings, Boat and Sail Trim for Speed, Boat Handling, Sailing Backwards?!, and plenty of Pirate Races.

Full payment required prior to start of 1st class (payable to Jill Christie)

Deposit and cancellation policy distributed upon registration.

The Mondays would be July 5, 12, 19, Aug 9, 16th (5 weeks)
The Wednesdays would be June 30, July 7, 14, 21, Aug 11, 18 (6 weeks).

The costs will be $225/person (5 weeks) $270 for (6 weeks)

4 hour sessions each week from 5-9 pm at the Nanaimo Yacht Club
